The Letting Centre aims to be a responsible employer and player in the property sector, and takes pride in its donations towards good causes.
We are pleased to have provided support for the following charities:
Devon Freewheelers: The Letting Centre have donated £1000 to Devon Freewheelers in 2017 who are a self-financing voluntary organisation providing their skills and expertise free of charge to provide an out of hours and weekend emergency response courier service to the NHS delivering essential blood, samples and medication to hospitals.
Ride-On: The Letting Centre have donated a total of £2500 to the Ride-on charity in 2016 and 2017 which is based in Exeter. Ride-on are a volunteer driven organisation helping the local community to build skills to maintain their bikes. Their aim is to "Get More People Riding More Often" on safe affordable recycled bicycles.
Dream-A-Way: In 2012 the Letting Centre donated £250 to the Dream-A-Way charity who provide holidays and day trips to people living in Devon, Cornwall and the Scilly Isles with physical and learning difficulties. The volunteers provide their time and services freely and more than 99% of all funds raised goes straight towards helping others.
Zimbabwe Agricultural Welfare Trust (ZWAT): The Letting Centre donated £250 to the ZAWT in 2012. The ZAWT was established in 2001 to provide support for the farming community in Zimbabwe. Funding is gained through efforts of the Trustees and all funding is provided directly to the project in Zimbabwe.
Devon Wildlife Trust: The Letting Centre made a donation of £250 to the Devon Wildlife Trust in 2012 which has been set up to protect and secure the future of key wildlife sites in Devon. The Devon Wildlife Trust currently manage over 45 nature reserves, conserving and protecting the county’s landscapes.
Exmouth Christmas Lights (ECL): In 2012 the Letting Centre donated £250 to ECL which is a non-profit organisation aiming to raise money to help fund the Christmas lights in Exmouth each year, run by local residents and business owners who volunteer in their spare time.
Centre Stage: In 2011 and 2012 The Letting Centre donated a total of £1,000 to Centre Stage, a youth theatre group in Exmouth. Centre Stage a self-funding charity who aim to advance the education of children and young people in music and performing arts. Members have the opportunity to perform a wide variety of shows, working with experienced professionals, developing their singing, dancing and acting skills.
Children in Need: Also in 2011 The Letting Centre made a donation to Children in Need whose aim is to improve the lives of children all over the UK. Children in Need provide grants to projects in the UK which focus on children and young people who are disadvantaged.
Unicef: In 2011 The Letting Centre sponsored Katrina Ives £100 when she completed the London Marathon in aid of Unicef, a charity whose aim is to support and protect children's rights around the world.
Macmillan Cancer Support: The Letting Centre sponsored Birgitta Paine £100 in 2010 when she completed a Danceathon in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, taking part in 10 dance classes in 10 hours. Macmillan help to improve the lives of people affected by cancer providing them with practical, emotional and financial support.
Marie Curie Cancer Care: Also, in September 2010 the Letting Centre sponsored Miki Wells who completed the Ben Nevis Walk in aid of Marie Curie who help to care for people with cancer and other terminal illnesses.
Sidmouth Living with Cancer Support Group: The Letting Centre have donated a total of £6,100 to the Sidmouth Living with Cancer Support Group between 2010 and 2017. We also designed and produced their own leaflet. The support group has been in existence since 2001, and their aim is to help and encourage sufferers, as well as their carers, to be positive and introducing them to others so that they can share knowledge to help themselves.
Race for Life: On 20 June 2010, Elaine Braidy (see image, left) completed the Race for Life, along with her mother, in 1 hour and 8 minutes. The Letting Centre helped sponsor Elaine, who raised £250. The Race for Life is Cancer Research UK's flagship event with over 230 events taking place across the UK for women who walk, jog, and run 5k to raise money and help beat cancer.
Connect Centre: The Letting Centre have donated a total of £3500 to the Elim Connect Centre in Wells, Somerset in 2010 and 2017 for the purchase of new IT equipment and other funding needs. The Connect Centre is a multi-purpose facility for the whole community, helping to develop effective relationships between people and organisations, in order to make a difference in and around Wells.
TaxPayers' Alliance: In 2008 The Letting Centre made a donation to the TaxPayers' Alliance. The TaxPayers' Alliance was formed in 2004 and campaigns for lower taxes and tax payers' rights. The Letting Centre also donated in 2011 and 2012 to help towards campaigning for fair taxes.
Exmouth Lifeboat Station Appeal: In 2007 The Letting Centre chose to support our local RNLI by donating £1,000 towards the new boathouse which was constructed in 2009. The station is situated in Exmouth and houses both the Mersey Class All Weather Lifeboat "Margaret Jean", with its carriage and tractor, and the D Class Inshore Lifeboat "George Bearman."
Devon Air Ambulance: The Letting Centre made donations to the Devon Air Ambulance in 2006 and 2011 which provides an important and necessary service to the local community. The Devon Air Ambulance Trust raises funds to keep 2 emergency Air Ambulances flying, and is completely independent of central or local government. The Devon Air Ambulance service is free of charge and available to everyone.
Sustrans Cycle Network: The Letting Centre has donated £3,500 to the Sustrans Cycle Network who carry out excellent work setting up local routes which reduce traffic congestion and provide a sustainable transport network. Sustrans is the UK's leading sustainable transport charity and their vision is a world in which people choose to travel in ways that benefit their health and environment.
Fairbridge: Letting Centre donated £1,000 in 2005 to the national charity supporting young and vulnerable people, working against the challenges of inner-city life. Fairbridge works with people aged 13-25 giving them the motivation, self-confidence and skills they need to change their lives.
Guide Dogs for the Blind: In 2004 the Letting Centre donated £1,000 to the Guide Dogs for the Blind charity who provide mobility and freedom to blind partially sighted people. The sum will help to pay for the training of one new guide dog puppy.
Exe Sailing Club: The Letting Centre donated money to the Exe Sailing club (junior class support) in 2003 to help young people improve their sailing skills and compete in national race events. The Club, situated in Exmouth close to the marina/harbour at the mouth of the beautiful Exe estuary, is the largest sailing club on the Exe and encourages all forms of sailing.
St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School: In 2002, The Letting Centre donated money to St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Exmouth. St Joseph's School was founded in 1904 by the Sisters of the Convent of the Holy Family. The school is a fully equipped seven-classroom primary school which occupies a pleasant site overlooking the Exe estuary.
